Custom craft cast metal jewelry.

Valuvika, in Finnish, means an error or defect in a metal casting. The word is also often used to describe the small quirks, imperfections, and peculiarities found in everyday objects—and sometimes in people as well.


At Valuvika Design, we believe that these imperfections are not flaws to be hidden, but characteristics that give objects and people their individuality. They create stories, add meaning, and make each piece or person unique. In a world that often strives for perfection, we celebrate the details that make us distinct and, ultimately, human.

 

 

Welcome to Valuvika Design

Valuvikadesign.fi is about exploring, designing and producing limited runs of  exclusive cast metal jewelry or decorative products from recycled metals, or supporting others in this process from design to prototype and small scale production. The owner Christoph Böse, an East German born, United States educated in Finland living universalist,  earns his living as an industrial designer in the metal and glass industry. Valuvikadesign.fi serves as a side project and creative outlet.  Inspiration for his style come from cast metal signage often found as street signs for example in England or Switzerland or on old machinery. He is fascinated by the timelessness of these objects.

3d design

Although it is not mandatory the workflow often starts with a 3d design. This is especially useful for one off objects or to easily create physical prototypes for evaluation.

rapid prototyping

With sandcasting there is no need to order an injection mold, the model can be test cast quickly and easily. The sand leaves an astetically  pleasing surface finish. 

small scale production

It is then possible top produce small series of products. Because finishing is done manually every piece is unique.
